Sweet Summer Sun Volume Five London Baby! Meatball Calzone and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the London Palladium!
Since I began my Sweet Summer Sun blogs way back in 2016 I’ve been wanting to do a London edition.
London is one of my favourite places and I’ve been visiting the Capital for years now! So I kinda know it well... although with all major cities you find hidden treasures.
In this edition I shall be bringing you THREE West End shows! and lots of other things.
The day kicked off in Leicester Square with a London classic! Bella Italia Meatball Calzone... ok, not a London classic but a delicious dish.
Show one! We kick things off with one of my favourite musicals... Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at The London Palladium. Yes! Finally seeing a show at the legendary Palladium!
So Joseph stars Jac Yarrow as Joseph, Sheridan Smith as The Narrator and Jason Donovan as Pharaoh! Yes the D man returns to Joseph! He rocked as The King! The new actor who plays Joseph is really, REALLY good! Close Every Door To Me was an absolute belter! Amazing! And he signed our program at the Stage Door! Sheridan Smith did an incredible job as The Narrator AND Jacob! She wears a beard when performing his parts. That was a nice twist/surprise. Easily one of my favourite shows I’ve seen on the West End.
Show Two AND Three tomorrow! What could they be?

Sweet Summer Sun Volume Five Wahlburgers! Kingly Court, Bitter Wheat and Les Miserables: The All Star Concert!
The day started with a PANIC! a search for my mums debit card! Only to be found in her handbag....of all places.. right?
Anyway!
It was off to Covent Garden and a quick stop at Wahlburgers. Admittedly I didn’t know this one here! So, it’s owned by Mark and Donnie Wahlberg and the other brother..... anyway it’s it’s pretty cool and the food it delicious! I’ll be back for the Boston Belt Buster!
Show Two is Bitter Wheat starring John Malkovich as a Hollywood movie producer. The play is heavily influenced on the #MeToo movement. The show is a dark comedy and Malkovich is insanely brilliant! He’s funny. He’s dark. He’s a genius on the stage! He’s Cyrus the Virus!! Glad I managed to bag tickets AND get an unexpected upgrade upon arrival. Closer the better.
Show Three is Les Miserables: The All Star Concert! It stars Michael Ball, Alfie Boe, Carrie Hope Fletcher and Matt Lucas! A star studded show! Alfie Boe belting out Bring Him Home sent a shiver down your spine! What a voice! Amazing! Michael Ball returns to Les Mis for the first time in over 30 years! He didn’t disappoint! He was awesome as Javert and his performance of STARS was phenomenal! If you haven’t seen Les Mis on the West End yet then get booking some tickets! It’s an epic! Vive la France!
Also, Kingly Court is a hidden treasure! It’s just off Carnaby Street and it’s a three storey alfresco food and dining destination! Also in the heart of the West End! So it’s nice for a pre show meal!

So, Sweet Summer Sun Volume Five has come to the end. Like all holidays and short breaks... they just come to its natural end. Sad.
Carrying on from last nights Les Mis and the French Revolution. We dined at La Pain Quotidien Bakery & Restaurant in Covent Garden, A french dining experience that’s absolutely delicious! Vive la France!
